Workers in Houston stand in solidarity for better working conditions

About 150 labor activists demanded better working conditions for Ironworkers and Janitors in Houston today. They converged at Tranquility Park in downtown Houston about 4pm in sweltering heat with a very close Houston Police presence. There were mounted police as well as police on bicycles. Fortunately, the tragic incident which occurred recently during a labor action downtown was not repeated. Today, no labor activists were brutalized by HPD officers on horseback. We were instead brutalized by the summer Houston heat.

One of the chanters called out “What do we do when Houston police are attacked?” and the answer was “Stand up! Fight back!”
